Music Video: Look At Yourself

The first time I heard this beautiful song, I loved it.

Music can touch the soul and ease your pain for a few precious moments when your loved one is struggling with substance use.

This is a guest post from Ray LaCroix who share his music with us.

Look at Yourself by Anna Lockhart is a song from the family’s perspective. It’s about how we hurt inside and worry about those we love who are dealing with a substance use issue.

The song gives strength and hope. It is a reminder to not give up on our children, family, and friends.

If we give up on them, they will give up on themselves. There are things that you can do as a parent, sibling, spouse, or friend.

Look at Yourself is about unconditional love. It’s imperative to be there in order to guide and help change the trajectory or path they might miss or never take. Sometimes we need more strength to keep going.

I believe that through music we can recharge the fight we need inside to keep going.

Sometimes we need more inner strength. I believe that through music we can recharge the fight we need inside to keep going.

I’ve always understood my voice to be a gift I can use to bless others. I believe music has the power to heal — to help someone fully experience the feelings of love, encouragement, or even pain and disappointment hiding just beneath the surface of a smile. Music has never been a career for me, rather a vessel to guide listeners to an emotional place where powerful things happen.

When Ray asked me to sing his song, I felt honored.

There aren’t many lives that addiction hasn’t touched in some way. I believe allowing ourselves to feel the pain we are running from is the first step in winning the battle of Hurt vs Healing.” ~ Anna Lockhart

This song brings such inspiration to the family and friends of those who suffer addiction. I know this first hand as my brother has struggled his entire adult life. It is a horrible roller coaster ride.
So many emotions. Too much hurt! So much loss! This song is special to me for many reasons but mostly due to the raw emotion and Pureness of the lyrics. This song brings comfort and support for all of us who are affected directly and indirectly by addiction.
May God Bless everyone involved in the creation of “Look at yourself” ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your thoughts. I’m so sorry that your brother has struggled with addiction. I agree that it can be a roller coaster ride for families and causes such stress and pain. I’m glad that the song has brought you comfort. I’m sure it does for others as well.

What a beautiful, heart felt song. It brought tears to my eyes. Although I don’t have a loved one who is addicted, I could relate to many of the feelings in regard to a family member struggling with mental health challenges.

Pain is universal. Thank you for sharing.
