32 Terrific Podcasts That Support Recovery

Podcasts have exploded in recent years.

There are shows on many different topics. As I was doing research on which shows to include in this article, it was exciting to find so many shows talking about addiction and recovery.

Podcasts are a convenient way to get information or to boost your motivation to stay on your recovery track.

Listening to podcasts can help family members as well. You can learn more about substance use and not feel so alone.

Sometimes, I listen at home, but I usually have a podcast going when I’m on my walk. Also, I turn on a podcast when I’m going be to be in the car for a more extended amount of time.

There are many podcasts for anyone interested in recovery topics.

From research-based information to AA speakers, family members and those in recovery can find podcasts that meet their needs.

My goal with this article was to compile a list of podcasts that you can refer to. If I missed a show that you love, feel free to add it in the comment section.

Happy listening!

Opiate Recovery Podcast

Opiate Recovery Podcasts allow you to listen in on an addiction support group. This group consists of people who are working on recovery from either heroin addiction or addiction to pain pills.

They all utilize medication-assisted treatment in the form of Methadone or Buprenorphine (Suboxone). Gail Gabbert, an addiction counselor, facilitates the groups.

We find that opiate addiction shares commonalities with other substances of abuse, but have some unique features. Due to these unique features, we enjoy meeting with others who utilize medication as an adjunct to their recovery.

We hope that you will benefit from hearing kindred spirits on your path to recovery. You may want to use these discussions for your personal growth or to facilitate your support group.

Refuge Recovery is a Buddhist-oriented path to freedom from addiction. This is an approach to recovery that understands: “All individuals have the power and potential to free themselves from the suffering that is caused by addiction.” We feel confident in the power of the Dharma, if applied, to relieve suffering of all kinds, including the suffering of addiction. 1. Dear Cathy,

Thank you for opening my eyes (and ears) to so many podcasts about recovery! I wish we had these when I needed help and empathy. The world of wellness and hope has exploded in the past decade! This is great news for folks who are sober-curious and for those who have family members they’re trying to understand. May these listening resources bring more education and COMPASSION to the table and aid in the fight against the stigma that continues to harm. Here’s to recovering out loud!

  2. Lynda Hacker Araoz

Cathy, I really appreciate all the work that went into compiling this list. This is information that will be helpful to so many…both those in recovery and families caught in the web spun by addiction.
    Thanks again!!!

    1. Thank you, Lynda, for stopping by. I agree that the podcasts can help all members of a family whether you are the parent or the person who is in early recovery. I hope you find some that are helpful to you!

  3. Excellent list! I love the Collateral Damage Podcast. The Friends in Recovery Podcast is a newer one that’s growing fast….it should definitely be added to this list.

  4. Another great resource of resources. There is no wonder you have been awarded Top Blog recognition. You give so much to those grasping for answers. Thank you!
